STEM Back at School

Hi everyone! We need to decide our schedule of meetings back at school. We also need to gather some ideas for the club fair. Also, we need to start brainstorming about what we want to do after FLL ends. If anyone has any ideas, please comment about them. Also, if you could comment which days you are available, that would be great! Me and Ashton will be meeting to decide which day we will meet, and we need your input!

See you back at school! I’ll keep you posted!

  1. Hey~ I just need to know whether the meetings are going to be 1, 1 1/2,or 2 hours long; I understand that when the FLL tournament is getting closer, we’ll have to spend more time. The best day for me is Wednesday. I can be at the meeting for 1 hour on Mondays and Tuesdays too. Btw, when the tournament gets really close, instead of spending 5 hours at school, do you think we could get together on the weekends? I have more free time on Saturday or Sunday than weekdays, but I know a lot of you guys have sports on Sat/Sun. Could you get back to me on whether you guys are free on the weekends? Thanks

I talked to a lot of 6th graders, and a lot of them are pretty enthusiastic about STEM. But I think that you have to make it clear that STEM is really focusing on FLL this year, because some students might think it’s more science, or more math. I personally really like FLL, but for those people that aren’t a big fan of robotics, I think that we shouldn’t spend all of our time on FLL, but try to do a variety of things this year.

For the club fair, do you need any help? I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to be there, but I’m sure others will be. See you on Sept. 9!

    • You made a good point that we have to tell the sixth graders that we are focusing on FLL for the first part of the year. During the FLL season, we are going to probably have 1.5 hr meetings at school, but we are also going to have other meetings, usually specific to the role of the people. Those meetings will be longer.

      Thanks for responding!

      See you September 9th.
